Ugandans Defy Heavy Rains to Run for Expectant Mothers at 2026 Corporate Run
KAMPALA, October 11, 2026
Heavy rains did little to dampen the spirit of Ugandans who turned up for the 2026 Corporate Run, rallying behind a campaign to support expectant mothers and promote safer childbirth.

The annual event brought together members of the corporate community and fitness enthusiasts under the theme “Run for Expectant Mothers,” turning a morning of running and walking into a call for greater support for maternal healthcare in an event hosted at the National Enterprise Corporation (NEC) Grounds in Bugolobi on Sunday.

Participants took on different races, while corporate executives were expected to participate in a dedicated 3km CEO Walk alongside expectant mothers.

Organised under Corporate Games Uganda, the initiative aims to raise funds for 5,000 Mama Kits to be distributed to under-resourced health facilities across the country.

The kits contain essential supplies intended to help mothers maintain hygiene and dignity during childbirth, particularly in communities where access to basic delivery necessities remains a challenge.

Each running kit was priced at Shs30,000, with proceeds directed towards the maternal-health campaign.

Capital Markets Authority partnered with the initiative as part of its 30th-anniversary activities.

Other supporting partners included betPawa, Uganda Baati, NEC Uzima, Node Group, Ruby Hospital, Rwenzori Natural Mineral Water, the Uganda Athletics Federation, the Ministry of Health, the Private Sector Foundation Uganda and other corporate and institutional partners.

Beyond the race distances, the event sought to demonstrate how corporate Uganda can mobilise resources and public attention around issues affecting mothers and newborns.

Despite the challenging weather, the turnout highlighted the importance of collective participation in a campaign whose impact extends beyond the finish line.

For the organisers, the ultimate measure of success is not simply the number of people who run, but the number of mothers who can access essential supplies when they need them most.

As the 2026 Corporate Run concluded at Bugolobi, the focus remained on translating the energy and solidarity of participants into tangible support for safer motherhood across Uganda.
